Readers are more willing to try a book by an author who has a lot out because it - on assumption - must mean they are a good writer. Marie Lu wrote at least four before Legend, with a few of them agented, and Maggie Stiefvater wrote something like twenty novels before Shiver.

There's seldom such a thing as an overnight success, and it's not the best way to go, 'cause you're not prepared and don't appreciate it as much.
Steve MChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15026970188928733645noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4665052536053897386.post-3658690811825974672013-12-19T21:35:34.390+07:002013-12-19T21:35:34.390+07:00It involves continuing to write. It involves continuing to write.Matthew MacNishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03264738483763244969noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4665052536053897386.post-64356747744304655582013-12-19T21:35:11.912+07:002013-12-19T21:35:11.912+07:00I pretty much mostly agree, especially as a bit of...I pretty much mostly agree, especially as a bit of a perfectionist. That said, I would still really like an agent experienced in sales of manuscripts similar to my style to help me decide on the right debut.

Can't seem to get that done though.

Oh well, I have a plan.Matthew MacNishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03264738483763244969noreply@blogger.com
