I just got a story accepted on Thaumatrope, to be published April 12th. Yeah, Easter. I'm pretty excited about that, and I got paid a whole $1.20 for it. You can subscribe to the e-zine here.
I can think of two possible reasons: (1) it's an Easter story, and they're publishing it on Easter and (2) they get a lot of submissions but only publish a couple of stories a day, so they may be booked out to April.
(1) is true for sure. (2) wouldn't surprise me. I've got a couple of other stories to submit to them. If they get published too, it should give us an idea of how true (2) is. I'll let you know.
I got another one accepted, due to be published in August. So I guess not only are they booked far out, but my Easter story may have been slipped in for the holiday. Cuz it's just that good, right?

Wait, why are they taking four months to publish a 120-character story?.
Not to take anything away from your accomplishment - congratulations!

140 characters. 120 cents.

Yes - it's a paying gig! You were a writer before, now you are an author.
Congratulations and Happy Christmas.
That's great news! Who cares if it's a buck twenty! That's more than I can put to my creative writing career.
